WHAT IS THIS?

A Fun Way to Get Involved

A bucket list, if you didn't already know, is a list of things that someone wants to do in their lifetime.

This isn't just any bucket list though, it was created specifically for you as a UCSB student. It has pretty cool stuff you'll want to do while you're here.

Of course, it's completely fine if you don't finish or don't want to do everything on this list. You don't need another assignment, your professors have you covered on that one. This is just for fun!

To Help You Feel Welcome

Moving to a new place and, for most, living on your own for the first time is a major life transition. It definitely was for me. However, getting involved in the community really helped.

But where do you start? Well, this is where the bucket list comes in. I think it would've helped me to have a starting point when I first came here, and that's exactly what this website is.

This school has a reputation for being social and having a tight-knit community for a reason. I want everyone who comes here to feel welcome and experience that.

Criteria for Making the List:

Each item on this list was hand-picked by me and other students at UCSB. In other words, we know what's up around here and want to make sure you're living your best life. Here's the criteria we used to do that:

  • On campus or in Isla Vista

  • Includes something only UCSB or Isla Vista offers

  • Every UCSB student is allowed to partake

  • At least 3 current students agreed it was fun and everyone should do it

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Cambrie, and I am the creator of the UCSB Bucket List. I'm currently a 3rd year Sociology major at UCSB. I wanted to make something fun that also helped people for my project in WRIT 105M: Multi-media writing, and that is how this website was born.

Personally, some of my favorite things to do is volunteer with Food Not Bombs, take classes at the Recreation Center, go to local concerts, study at the library, and hit up the coffee shops. The people I've met during these experiences have been amazing, and several of them helped make this website a reality (thanks friends).

I've grown to love this school over the past few years. However, it took a lot of time and trying new things to get there. Especially with my first year being online due to COVID-19. I'm hoping this bucket list will make that journey easier and quicker for you. Thanks for checking it out, enjoy!

Oh, and this picture of me was taken in Solvang, a Danish-style town nearby. You should definitely go visit if you ever have the chance.
