Catch a Soccer Game Against Cal Poly SLO

"It's nothing that I've ever seen before. The school spirit here is crazy...and the traditions are fun to take part in"

- Tyler, second year

Do you miss going to your high school sports games and cheering them on? Well, you can do just that at our soccer games. When we go against Cal Poly SLO, our biggest rival, we don't take it lightly. The school goes all out for one of the biggest competitions of the year, especially since our soccer team always plays well.

Soccer season takes place during fall quarter, and you can catch several games during this time at home. For a game against Cal Poly, special thunder sticks are made and given out to students to use during it. There's also a major tradition: tortilla throwing. Yeah, I'm being serious. Even though the school has tried banning it since it affects the players' performance, people still somehow sneak in tortillas and throw them onto the field during the game. So yeah, you'll probably leave with some tortilla in your hair. It's definitely something interesting to see if your high school wasn't very spirited, or didn't have traditions during games like that.

You can get tickets for free in the UCSB Gauchos app as a UCSB student. All you have to do is show up and show your digital code at the entrance, easy right? Even if you don't like soccer, or sports in general, it's fun to go hang with friends and support our school's team.
