"There's nothing like bringing a book and relaxing in the company of a beautiful ocean"
- Josie Hurwitz, third year
Getting some fresh air is a must when you spend all day doing work. So, why not do some studying at the beach? Sands has some beautiful flora and a view of the ocean that you can't beat. Set up a hammock, grab a textbook, and take it all in!
At the end of IV, this is considered a favorite beach among UCSB students. What's the difference? Well, it's further away from residential areas, which gives it a more "getaway" feel. It also has several notable features (check them out below).
It's not the easiest to get to because it is fenced off (it's part of a preserve after all), but I got you. There's a bluff trail that runs in front of UCSB's West Campus that takes you directly to the beach. If you get lost, just start heading that way towards sunset and you can follow all of the other UCSB students heading that way too.
Highlights of Sands Beach:
Tide pools
Exposed coral reef
Spot for bird watching
Designated surfing areas
Trails
UCSB Dictionary:
IV - acronym for Isla Vista
