Jam Out at Extravaganza

"...you might get lucky and see someone you listen to without having to going anywhere!"

- Esther, third year

Featuring big and local artists alike, this music festival at the end of the school year is all the hype! Plus, it's held at home in Harder Stadium, only open to UCSB students, and free. Cool right?

Extravaganza started in 1979 as a free concert to showcase local artists for the community. Now, it's only open to students and cut back on local artists in favor of major artists, such as Charli XCX, Playboi Carti, and Thundercat. There's also a tradition to announce the lineup in an extravagant (haha, get it?) way every year that follows the theme. One year, someone dressed as a dragon ran across the beach with an egg that had the headliner? If you want to see something like that, then keep your eye out during spring quarter.

This isn't the only huge concert held at UCSB either. There's also the Halloween concert called Delirium, and the Welcome Back concert during the first week of fall quarter. There's also concerts held at the MCC and The Hub several times throughout the year. So if you miss Extravaganza, or the lineup isn't your vibe, these are also great to go to.

UCSB Dictionary:

  • MCC - acronym for Multicultural Center
